IDarte School: Ideas, Design and Art, Joins Habic

IDarte is the Public Higher School of Design in the Basque Country, located in the former neo-Gothic convent of BetoƱo, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, with over 30 years of experience teaching Fine Arts and Design. ‘Ideas, design and art’ are merged in the school’s name.

Design at the Service of Society

We believe in Design as a transformative element for the Society we serve. At IDarte, we aspire to be a reference in the processes of creation, innovation, preservation, transmission, and research (academic, social, cultural, ethical, and professional) in the fields of Design.

Reason for Belonging to Habic

We believe that design consists of providing solutions to problems, needs, and/or expectations of society in a meaningful way. For IDarte, design is an activity that draws from cultural, artistic, and technological avant-garde while also influencing it.

We wish to develop a design culture in the Basque Country and for design to gain the importance it deserves in society. Therefore, we are willing to invest our resources in collaboration with companies associated with Habic, in terms of sharing challenges and concerns, generating knowledge, and enhancing the skills of our students and faculty.

Cutting-Edge Methodologies

We are a laboratory where faculty and students work hand in hand. We create everything around us from scratch. At IDarte, creativity is developed under the ‘do it yourself’ philosophy (or learn while doing).

Faculty and students jointly build each workspace, each digital service we provide, and each product we design. Our brand, our furniture, our website… We design everything that is part of IDarte.

The learning experience involves all phases of design, from idea to materialization, and for this, we use methodologies such as Design Thinking.
